About Aymar
Navigating origins
The Ferrer family has been connected to the world of wine for six generations.
Aymar owes its name to an ancestor of the Ferrer family, Lluïsa Aymar, who at the beginning of the 19th century, together with her husband Gregori Ferrer i Soler (1791-1853), was already shipping barrels of wine from the harbour of Vilanova i la Geltrú to Cuba, specifically to Havana.
Aymar is born
Gregori Ferrer (founder) was born and raised surrounded by vineyards. From a very young age, he already participated in the harvests at home and cultivated love for his land, Penedès. Surrounded by Macabeu, Xarel·lo, and Parellada, he began to appreciate each grape variety and became curious about the world of viticulture.
Breaking with the tradition of past generations of bulk wine production, Gregori Ferrer takes a decisive step towards the creation and foundation of his own brand that would pay homage to the entrepreneurial spirit and the legacy and love for viticulture of his great-grandmother: Luïsa Aymar.
Innovation and commitment to the future
Aymar grows and establishes itself in 2013 as one of the pioneering wineries in the creation of the 'Clàssic Penedès' designation, with a firm conviction to revalue and restore prestige to the production of high-quality artisanal sparkling wines made in their place of origin, in Penedès.
Aymar wines and sparkling wines are faithful ambassadors of their terroir and seek to enhance the maximum expressiveness and elegance of the indigenous grape varieties of the land they represent, such as Xarel-lo or Xarel-lo Vermell, this last one is unique in the world and 100% Penedès.
